After nearly 25 years of broadcasting contemporary Christian music to the Atlanta area, 104.7 The Fish signed off on January 31, 2025. The station’s parent company, Salem Media Group, sold several stations, including The Fish, to Educational Media Foundation to address long-term debt. Starting February 1, 2025, the 104.7 frequency began airing EMF’s Air1 network, featuring a worship music format.

Hundreds Gather to Say Goodbye to 104.7 The Fish

Last weekend, WFSH held a final listener event to give away its remaining station swag. That event went two hours longer than scheduled. In a promo, PD Mike Blakemore thanked listeners for their 25-year-support of the radio station, then asked them to keep in touch through the staff’s social media accounts. “God bless and keep the faith, Atlanta,” he said.

104.7 The Fish held a going away party that drew hundreds of fans to wish the station goodbye. The event was scheduled for two hours but lasted four because so many people showed up.

Listeners and staff shared emotional farewells during the final broadcast. Morning hosts Kevin Avery and Taylor Scott expressed gratitude to their audience, with Scott stating, “We wanted to do our listeners right because you guys have been the best listeners in the whole world.”

The transition marks the end of an era for Atlanta’s Christian radio community, as The Fish had become a staple for many listeners seeking faith-based programming.

In their final broadcast, Avery and Scott took calls from listeners, including Scott’s best friend, Cindy Simmons, and featured segments like “Junior Joker” and “World of Food.” Despite the media landscape’s challenges, both hosts expressed optimism about continuing their partnership on another station, potentially in a different music format.

Morning show hosts Kevin Avery and Taylor Scott reacted to news of the closure on the “Kevin & Taylor” Facebook page with a tribute to the listeners who stayed with them for decades.

We are so incredibly honored that we had the privilege of bringing you “Good, Clean, Fun” and doing life with you for 24 years.

So many times, at radio events, we would meet those of you who grew up listening, and now you have children of your own. That’s so rare in radio, and we are so grateful!

Every day you inspired us with the stories of your lives, to love God and love people better.

Thank you for being there as Kevin kids and Taylor’s nieces and nephews grew up, as we both lost parents for the first time, as Griff got married and became a dad. You, our listeners have been our biggest inspiration.

We’re so grateful for our management who gave us a job most people only dream of.

We also want to say a huge thank you to the incredible companies who made this journey possible. We loved helping you grow your businesses.

We will miss you greatly! We are excited to see what opportunity God has for us next. And if you see us at the grocery store or at a Braves or Atlanta United game, please come say hi. We love you!
