With a goal of bringing comfort and hope through art to healthcare workers and those on the frontlines, students at North Cobb Christian School (NCCS) created canvases with messages of encouragement that were donated to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. NCCS students partnered with The Foundation for Hospital Art to create a unique collage of artwork, which will be installed on the walls of the hospital.

“This year has been challenging for all healthcare workers, and it is gestures such as these that make a difference in our overall morale – not only for physicians and nurses but for the entire care team that is required to work in synchrony to care for people,” says Zenobia JonesFoster, MD, MPH, Director of Hospital Medicine for WellStar Kennestone. “This gesture will bring a smile to many of our faces and motivate our team. Thank you for supporting us in this endeavor to fight this pandemic.”

The canvases, which will be displayed in the staff workroom, feature messages like, “You are brave,” “You are a hero,” and “Thank you for saving others.”

“This past year presented challenges our community could have never anticipated and altered life in just about every way imaginable,” recognizes Dana Caviness, Director of Service Excellence for WellStar. “But amid all the difficulties COVID imposed, there is a realization that human kindness is far more powerful than an illness. The generosity from students and schools like North Cobb Christian reflect the resiliency and compassion of our community. The inspiring artwork will be shared with our teams and undoubtedly serve as a reminder that our community stands with us, supporting and cheering us on! It means more than I could ever put into words.”

North Cobb Christian School students completed this service project through their participation in Spring Term, an annual tradition during which students in 9th through 12th grades spend a week participating in mission work and cultural immersions locally and globally. WellStar Kennestone Hospital was selected as the beneficiary of one of the Spring Term projects this year to give back to the frontline healthcare workers in our community.
