The championship par 72 course at Woodmont Golf and Country Club will host the MUST Ministries’ annual Cherokee golf tournament. Set for Monday, May 17th with a 7:30 a.m. registration and 9 a.m. shotgun start, the event is now open for golfer registration and sponsors.

“This event benefits the MUST programs in Cherokee County and supports the extensive work MUST is doing for those in poverty there,” according to Dr. Ike Reighard, Pres. and CEO. “Many people do not realize MUST has a very busy location in Canton providing food, workforce development programs and housing assistance. We also provide Permanent Supportive Housing for clients with disabilities, Thanksgiving boxes, a Toy Shop at Christmas and Summer Lunch distributions throughout Cherokee.”

These programs will benefit from a successful golf tournament, hosted again this year at Woodmont Golf and Country Club, the first course designed by renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr. According to club spokesman Tyler Johnson, “The course provides first class conditions and a memorable setting in rolling hills. In addition to the beautiful course, we’re pleased to partner with MUST Ministries to benefit people in our community who need help and hope.”

The front nine at Woodmont offers longer, more difficult shots with fairly open fairways while the back nine is distinguished by three of the best finishing holes anywhere. Prizes will be given for first and second place teams, longest drive, straightest drive, closest to the pin, putting and a hole in one contest. A silent auction and raffle of valuable prizes is also scheduled.

Sponsorship levels include title ($7,500), presenting ($5,000), eagle ($2,500), birdie ($1,000), par ($800), contest ($300) and hole ($200).

Players can sign up for $175 per golfer at www.mustministries.org or email [email protected] for more information.
