EVENT BACKGROUND

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for our nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. The purpose of the Acworth celebration is to provide a public, unified time of prayer for our community in observance of the National Day of Prayer. The event is a partnership between the business community, education community, local government, and civic leaders of Acworth.
